The Spades: Subatomic
The new Spades album "Subatomic" is now available in stores across Canada on Pirate Radio/Fontana Records. Produced by the Hip's Gord Sinclair, the album is the group's strongest effort to date featuring the singles "Tear it Apart" and "The Revenge of Johnny Laundry".

The Spades begin a national tour in April.

The Tragically Hip has signed on to perform during Canada For Haiti telethon.
The Tragically Hip has signed on to perform during Canada For Haiti, Friday's telethon to raise funds to support earthquake relief for the stricken nation.

The money raised during the telethon will be distributed equally amongst a coalition of 10 large Canadian non-governmental organizations - including World Vision Canada, Canadian Red Cross Society, UNICEF Canada, Oxfam Canada and Save the Children Canada - with the funds exclusively earmarked for Haiti.

Canada For Haiti will be a one-hour, commercial-free, cross-network special event to be aired live at 7:00pm on CBC, CTV and Global.

CBC Radio 2 will carry the broadcast live and it will also be streamed online on CBC.ca, CTV.ca, GlobalTV.com and MuchMusic.com.

The telethon will also be simulcast on Canadian Forces Radio and TV.

Trailing the Hip




My experience at trailing the Hip throughout Alberta, starting off in Edmonton then to Banff and finishing off in Calgary, was such an incredibly good time with all the limo rides, the concerts, the after concert parties and even a little mountain climbing in Banff. The live music that the Hip provides for their fans is done in a way that only a few performers can pull off, and will never be forgotten. I have seen Gord and the Gang at work prior to this trip at the Virgin festival in Calgary, so I had a good idea of what to expect, they did not disappoint. This experience was well beyond my expectations. Our first limo driver Keith was very friendly but I would have to say that Tom the driver who took us to Banff was the best. He sure fit into the category of a big party animal and when he no longer had to drive us around he offered to give us the most for our experience and toured us around Banff. When it comes to the concerts I would have to say that the Banff show was my favourite due to the building being much smaller than the other two venues plus there is something about a show in the valley of mountains that gives it that little extra, especially since my guest and I climbed two mountains earlier that day. There were seven songs that I wanted to hear more than others and they played them all. During the after parties we met all the members of the band and with this opportunity I found out that they are all very down to earth. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the Hip Gang, all of whom I value as artists. This trip came as quite a shock due to the fact that I do not have a history of winning contests especially ones that I really wanted to win. So if you ever get an opportunity to enter a contest by downloading a ringtone just do it.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity that will always be a highlight of my life, and an experience I will never forget.
