The Tragically Hip - Halloween at The Roxy Re-imagined Poster designed by Pat Hamou.

When approached to tackle this poster for the band's Halloween 1998 show in Atlanta it was kind of a no-brainer.

Conjuring up Halloween imagery is always fun with so many possibile directions it’s almost hard to stay in one lane.

It was partly inspired by mid-20th century Halloween imagery, anchored by the masked dancing couple, and wanted to keep the Halloween elements expressive with a light touch.

Perhaps the most challenging was the request to include Gord Downie dressed up as Fidel Castro, which is how he appeared on stage for that particular show.

I think by including him in one of his iconic poses that would translate well despite being almost unrecognizable due to his costume.

Pat Hamou is a Montreal  based illustrator whose primary work is for the music industry which varies from week to week and is how he likes it.  He is happiest at his drawing table (most of the time!) and hopes the work speaks for itself.
